APRIL 1ST, 2010: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brace yourselves, comics fans! The strange world of El Gorgo! is about to get a bit stranger!

In a stunning move, series creators Mike McGee and Tamas Jakab announced today the sale of El Gorgo! and associated properties to Eisner Award-winning creators, Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely.

The duo recently worked on the popular BATMAN & ROBIN series for DC comics and have collaborated in the past on ALL STAR SUPERMAN, WE3, NEW X-MEN, THE INVISIBLES, JLA and FLEX MENTALLO.

The new team will take over with issue #5, due sometime after #4 ships, whenever that will be.

“The sale came together pretty quickly…” said outgoing El Gorgo! writer Mike McGee,
“Grant contacted us via post-supercontext 3D holographic telepathy from the future and said ‘SELL ME YOUR MONKEY AND I WILL CONQUER THE FIFTH DIMENSION!’ Who could refuse an offer like that?”

“I’m really excited about this new project.” Said new writer Morrison. ” Frank and I are gonna deliver the truly cutting-edge stories that 21st century audiences demand. Every issue will be 1000 pages of story compressed down to 24 pages like a holographic diamond of MTV-style YouTube web comics adventure. And it’s got a wrestling gorilla in it. Who doesn’t love that?”

“We’re only on the hook for like 2 issues a year. F***! I can keep up with that!” Said new artist Frank Quitely.

Outgoing artist Tamas Jakab added, “We’ve had to add 8 pages to issue #4 to assist in the transition, so that’s going to take me another 6 months. But we got paid!!!”

Issue #4 inker Rusty Shackles could not be reached for comment.

Happy April Fools Day!
